When two seemingly kindred and powerful forces from across the world unite, expectations can run a bit high. A while back I saw a YouTube vid of Welsh indie/art rocker Cate Le Bon performing a casual backyard rendition of California-based White Fence’s “Chairs in the Dark” (from Cyclops Reap). Being a fan of both Le Bon and White Fence aka Tim Presley, I was pleasantly surprised by this seemingly unlikely pairing of Presley’s psych gem sung in Le Bon’s strong Welsh accented alto voice. Now it seems the two have taken things a giant leap further with a proper collaboration, an upcoming album in August and Fall tour. Check out their first vid “Hermits On Holiday” but make sure to adjust the tracking on your YouTube for clearest picture.
